چکیده
A bounding surface plasticity model based on the effective stress concept is presented to describe behaviour of unsaturated structured soils subjected hydro-mechanical loadings. The structural degradation effects compressive and tensile strength are considered through controlling size surface, allowing for a smooth transition response from unstructured states. modelled using work hardening approach, considering both magnitude accumulated plastic strain process. void ratio-dependent water retention adopted, taking effect hydraulic hysteresis into account. A Bounding Surface Plasticity Model for Soils with Stress Increment Direction Dependent Plastic Potential
A new, continuous stress direction dependent plastic potential is proposed for the stress strain behaviour of soils. The resulting flow rule is incorporated into a bounding surface plasticity model within a critical state framework. The hypoplastic bounding surface model thus formulated is employed to predict both the compression and shearing behaviour of soil for various stress paths in the p′...
متن کاملRevisiting the thermodynamics of hardening plasticity for unsaturated soils
A thermodynamically consistent extension of the constitutive equations of saturated soils to unsaturated conditions is often worked out through the use of a unique ’effective’ interstitial pressure, accounting equivalently for the pressures of the saturating fluids acting separately on the internal solid walls of the pore network. The natural candidate for this effective interstitial pressure i...
متن کاملModelling plasticity of unsaturated soils in a thermodynamically consistent framework
Constitutive equations of unsaturated soils are often derived in a thermodynamically consistent framework through the use a unique ’effective’ interstitial pressure. This later is naturally chosen as the space averaged interstitial pressure. However, experimental observations have revealed that two stress state variables were needed to describe the stressstrain-strength behaviour of unsaturated...
متن کاملA constitutive model for unsaturated cemented soils under cyclic loading
On the basis of plastic bounding surface model, the damage theory for structured soils and unsaturated soil mechanics, an elastoplastic model for unsaturated loessic soils under cyclic loading has been elaborated. Firstly, the description of bond degradation in a damage framework is given, linking the damage of soil’s structure to the accumulated strain. The Barcelona Basic Model (BBM) was cons...
متن کاملA Hyperbolic Model for Stress-strain Behavior of Unsaturated Soils
A new simple shear apparatus is fabricated which is capable of applying monotonic and cyclic load on soil specimens. A series of tests was conducted to study the pore pressures (or suction), volume change, and shear behavior of the soil samples with anisotropic consolidation pressure. The simple shear apparatus is capable of controlling as well as measuring pore-air and pore-water pressure in t...
